The discipline of law in Anhui University of Finance and Economics was born in the early 1990s when China began to build a socialist market economy. At the end of 1993, it was approved to establish the major of economic law. In April 1994, the Department of Law of Anhui University of Finance and Economics (formerly Anhui College of Finance and Trade) was established. In September of the same year, the first undergraduate students majoring in Economic Law were enrolled. In 1995, it admitted junior college students majoring in international Economic Law, and in 1996, it admitted undergraduate students majoring in international Economic Law. In 1998, after the adjustment of undergraduate programs nationwide, law undergraduate programs were recruited uniformly. In January 2005, the School of Law was established. Over the past 20 years, all the faculty and staff of the school have been adhering to the school motto of integrity, harmony, fairness and justice and adhering to the basic road of connotative development. All the work has been developed comprehensively, continuously and harmoniously.

    The Law School now offers undergraduate major of law, which is divided into three directions: law, forensic accounting and foreign-related rule of law, and a new micro-major of Digital Law. The law major is a state-level first-class undergraduate major construction site, and a provincial quality engineering project Outstanding Legal Talents Plan, Comprehensive Reform Pilot of Law, School-enterprise Cooperation Legal Education Base, Outstanding Legal Talents Education Plan. In 2002, 2004 and 2007, economic law, International law, civil and commercial Law began to enroll academic graduate students. In 2007, it was authorized to confer the professional degree of Master of Law, and in 2011, it was authorized to confer the master's degree of first-level discipline of law. It now enrolls academic master students and professional master of Law (including full-time Master of Law, full-time non-legal Master of Law and part-time Master of Law) in Economic Law, International Law, Civil and Commercial law and litigation law.

    The Law school has 72 faculty members, including 56 full-time teachers. Among the teachers, more than 30 have senior titles, of which 11 are professors and 47 have doctoral degrees (currently studying), with the Ph. D. rate reached 83%. Currently, there are 2 provincial academic and technical leaders and reserve candidates, 1 provincial government special allowance receiver, 1 provincial high-end talent promotion action leader (distinguished professor) and 1 young top-notch talent (young scholar) repectively, 1 leading talent of Jianghuai Culture Promotion Project in Anhui Province, 1 top ten young and middle-aged legal experts in Anhui Province, 2 provincial famous teachers. There are 4 provincial rookeries, 1 provincial outstanding teaching rookeries, 4 Longhu scholars, 3 overseas doctors, 7 foreign (overseas) visiting scholars, 7 postdoctoral (in station). Three teachers won the honorary title of My Favorite Teacher of Anhui University of Finance and Economics. Three faculty members were selected as high yield authors in the Chinese Law Core Research Evaluation Journal (CLSCI).

    Over the past 20 years, the faculty of the school has published nearly 100 high-level academic papers in the core journals of law such as Chinese Social Sciences, Legal Research, Chinese Law, and Chinese and Foreign Law, and has entered the phalanx of law schools that have published papers in the three major authoritative legal journals in China. From 2015 to 2020, the School of Law ranked 36th, 52nd, 68th, 54th and 34th in the total number of published papers in CLSCI, successively ranking in the national Top 100. Faculty members of the law school have presided over 26 National Social Science Fund projects (including 1 key project), more than 100 other provincial and ministerial level projects, and won more than 10 provincial and ministerial level awards. The school has virtual research institutes such as the Research Center of Economic Law, the Research Center of International Law and International Tax Law, the East Asian Political and Economic Research Institute, the Research Center of Agricultural Land Law and Cooperative Society Law, the Research Institute of Local Legislation and the Legal Research Center of the Belt and Road, and three university-level special zones of Class C disciplines: Treaty and International Tax Law, Cooperatives and Rural Social Security, International Disputes and Evidence Law.

    Academic exchange and scientific research serving social work is one of the important contents of the discipline construction of the school. The school regularly holds a series of activities such as Ancai Law Lecture Hall, Longhu Law Salon, Judge and Prosecutor Lecture Hall, Legal Clinic and Graduate Research and Innovation Team. Nearly 100 well-known scholars from dozens of universities at home and abroad, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, University of Michigan, University of Osnabruck in Germany, Chuo University in Japan, etc. have been invited to hold academic presentations, effectively enliven the academic atmosphere of the school. The school has hosted the 2006 annual meeting and academic seminar of China Association of International Economic Law, the 2011 Joint Meeting of Deans/Secretaries of Law Schools in the Yangtze River Delta Region, the 2013 annual meeting and forum of Shandong-Henan-Anhui Civil and Commercial Law Research Association, and the 2017 Seminar on Legal Academic Innovation, Legal Journals and Promoting the Construction of the Rule of Law in China. The 2018 Seminar on the Development of Criminal Procedure Law and Evidence System in the era of Artificial intelligence and big Data, the 2023 International Tax Symposium and the 9th International Tax Law Frontier Forum and other academic conferences. Many teachers serve as directors or executive directors of national academic organizations, and are employed as legal advisers of Anhui Provincial Party Committee, Anhui Provincial People's Government, Bengbu Municipal Committee and Bengbu Municipal People's Government, etc., and actively offer advice and suggestions for local rule of law construction. Many teachers' think tank achievements have been approved by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and provincial leaders.

    The law school has always paid attention to the overall cultivation of students' quality. The Law School team won the Best Defendant in the first Yangtze River Delta University Moot Court Competition (2014); Won the champion (2014, 2019), second place (2015) and third place (2022) in Anhui Future Lawyers Debate Competition; Won the champion (2018) and the third place (2023) in Anhui College Students Moot Court Competition; Won the champion of the Applicant team and the third place of the Arbitral team in the third Nanzhong Zijin Cup Simulated Arbitral Tribunal Competition (2018); In the first Huaihai Cup National University Moot Court Competition won the Agent group champion and Judge Group runner-up (2018). The students have been awarded the honorary titles of Practice Organization Leader and Star of Self-improvement of Chinese College Students by the Central Committee of the League.

    The discipline of law is one of the three main disciplines of Anhui University of Finance and Economics, which has a great influence in Anhui province and has a certain popularity in the whole country. According to the China's Best Discipline Ranking (Law) released by Shanghai Soft Science, the law discipline of Anhui University of Finance and Economics ranked 71st, 69th and 69th respectively in 2020-2022, ranking among the top 100 law disciplines in China. In the 2023 Shanghai Soft Science Law professional ranking, the law major of our university ranks 97th among 625 law schools in the country, and the professional ranking in the province is also among the best. At present, under the leadership and support of the school, and with the joint efforts of the faculty and students of the school, the School of Law is expanding its structure, building a platform, consolidating the discipline direction, creating professional characteristics, and building an ideal home for teachers and students, constantly accelerating the pace of development of the school, and striving to enhance the reputation and influence of the School of Law.
